Aurizon Coal Trainee Opportunities

About the roles:

Aurizon is offering trainee opportunities for motivated and committed individuals to begin their career in rail while completing a Certificate III qualification. These roles provide hands-on learning, structured support and the opportunity to build practical skills in a safety-focused team environment.

Trainee Store-person – 24-month contract based at Jilalan (Sarina) or Callemondah (Gladstone)

Working alongside experienced team members, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day operation of our depot store. You’ll help ensure materials and equipment are available when needed to keep our rollingstock running safely and efficiently.

• Learn and assist with routine inventory management, receiving, and dispatching stock.
• Help build, assemble, and supply maintenance kits and picks.
• Support internal and vendor stocktakes, including cycle counts.
• Assist with maintaining warehouse safety, security, and housekeeping standards.
• Learn to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (training provided).

Trainee Business Administration – 12-month contract based at Callemondah (Gladstone).

This role is suited to someone who is eager to learn, takes pride in doing a job well, and values safety and teamwork. You’ll receive on-the-job training and mentoring to help build your clerical and administration skills.

• Undertake routine clerical and office functions.
• Support and assist team members on tasks as allocated.
• Development of clerical capabilities.

About you

• A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills.
• Good communication and attention to detail.
• A National C Class Driver’s Licence (or working towards obtaining one).
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word).
